Insomnium: tutti i dettagli del nuovo album, guarda il video di ‘Lilian’

Gli INSOMNIUM pubblicheranno il 24 febbraio 2022 il loro nuovo e nono album “Anno 1696”, tramite la tedesca Century Media Records.
“Anno 1696” è una porta verso un altro mondo, questa volta la band racconta una storia basata su un racconto del bassista/cantante Niilo Sevänen, intriso di dolore e ultimi sprazzi di speranza, oltre ad ira e morbose ninnananne. Benvenuti nel 1696, benvenuti all’inferno. Questa è un’epoca di disordini, l’era della grande carestia del Nord. La caccia alle streghe è in pieno svolgimento in tutta Europa e i raccapriccianti processi alle streghe hanno raggiunto i paesaggi remoti e maestosi della Finlandia e della Svezia.
Il commento dello stesso Niilo:
“I processi alle streghe di Torsåker sono stati una fonte di ispirazione da incubo. Tutto quel parlare di 70 donne decapitate in questa piccola parrocchia svedese? È tutto vero e documentato! E come se non bastasse ci sono anche altre storie molto oscure di cannibalismo e di infanticidi avvenuti negli anni della grande carestia.”
La band finlandese presenta oggi il primo singolo “Lilian” accompagnato dal videoclip ufficiale diretto da Riivata Visuals:

Guitarist Markus Vanhala comments about the track: “‘Lilian’ is probably the most traditional Insomnium hit song on the album – and an easy starter as single – before the heavier main course comes in. It shows the lighter shade of the album, before all hope leaves.”
Bassist/vocalist Niilo Sevänen adds: “This is Ville’s composition, and it has some of that old Insomnium feel in it. Felt like a video-song from the start. Lyrically, it tells how the tragic couple in the story met each other in the first place.”
Guitarist Ville Friman concludes: “One of the first songs to emerge during the pandemic era. It has this old Insomnium vibe and tonality that I tend to steer towards every time I pick up the guitar.”
