News dai Judas Priest

Pare che Rob Halford abbia dichiarato pubblicamente che i Judas Priest siano stati la prima vera Heavy Metal band, parlando entusiasticamente del suo ritorno nella gloriosa band. Questa la dichiarazione originale:

“Judas Priest is the first ever true heavy metal band”.It’s not BLACK SABBATH, and I know that’s a controversial thing for me to say. I’m saying that now because, as I’ve said to you in the past, Tony at least always refuted the fact that Sabbath was a heavy metal band. He always said, ‘No, we’re a rock band, a heavy rock band.’ Judas Priest was the first ever true heavy metal band in existence to step up to the plate and say, ‘This is who we are and this is the kind of music that we play; it’s called heavy metal.’ It wasn’t LED ZEPPELIN, it wasn’t DEEP PURPLE, it wasn’t THE WHO, it wasn’t any of the other hard rockers of that time. It was Judas ***** Priest. And that in itself I think is worthy of the kind of global attention that CNN gave us because there is no doubt that metal music in the big picture of rock ‘n’ roll is significant in its contribution to society as the music has made itself known over the years. So, it just felt right to me when I saw the ticker going along the bottom of the screen and then the thing starting to go, you know, in the entertainment section. It just all made sense.”

Da fonti ufficiali i Priest dovrebbero entrare in studio i primi di ottobre per la composizione del nuovo album, il quale uscirà con tutta probabilità nella primavera 2004. Intanto, per la gioia di tutti i kids, uscirà il 28 ottobre un cofanetto di 4 cd edito dalla Columbia Records.
