Fondati nel 1981 a Tampa, in Florida, dai fratelli Jon e Criss Oliva, i SAVATAGE si fecero subito notare per i loro incredibili album. Subito dopo l’incontro con il produttore/co-scrittore Paul O’Neill, il loro sound progressive metal venne ulteriormente definito da orchestrazioni e una forte componente melodica, abbinata ad arrangiamenti complessi. I SAVATAGE non solo hanno esteso la loro gamma artistica album dopo album ma anche i confini generali dell’heavy metal.
Dall’agosto del 2021 è in atto una campagna di ristampe dell’intero catalogo da parte di earMUSIC. Già disponibili le ristampe in vinile di “Sirens”, “The Dungeons Are Calling”, “Power Of The Night”, “Fight For The Rock”, “Hall Of The Mountain King”, “Gutter Ballet” e “Streets – A Rock Opera”.

Originally released in 1993, “Edge of Thorns” is the last album to contain the talents of guitarist Criss Oliva who died in a car accident in the year of release. “A lot of the songs were crafted for Criss’ playing”, says Jon Oliva. “I remember the last songs Criss, Paul and I wrote together were: ‘All That I Bleed’ and ‘Miles Away’. These are still my two favourites on the album.” This 1993 SAVATAGE album classic is also the band’s first album that features Zachary Stevens as lead vocalist. “Edge of Thorns” is now available on 180g Double 12inch Black Vinyl LP, along with a Limited Collector’s Edition on Sun Yellow Double Vinyl. Both editions are mastered for vinyl, spinning at High Quality 45rpm and reissued with the original cover design and specially enhanced artwork, including a 12 – pages LP booklet with extensive liner notes by Clay Marshall. Exclusive to the Limited LP Collector’s Edition is a deluxe art print showing the iconic album cover illustration.
SAVATAGE ’s 199 4 studio album “Handful of Rain” was dedicated to co – founder Criss Oliva, being the first album after his death . “None of us knew at that time if what we were doing was right, or if we should have just stopped”, says Jon Oliva. “We were offered four times the amount of money to do the live tribute than we got to do ‘Handful of Rain’, but we wanted to do ‘Alone You Breathe’. Paul and I needed to release that song, for Criss’ sake. As weird as it sounds, that was the most important thing to us.” The album also features the song “Chance” which was the first SAVATAGE song to contain the usage of counterpoint vocals, a style which they continued to use on the following albums. Almost three decades after its original release, “Handful o f Rain” is reissued as a 180g Black LP Gatefold Edition, along with a Limited Collector’s Edition on Transparent Blue Vinyl. Both editions are mastered for vinyl and reissued with the original cover design and specially enhanced artwork, including a 12 – pages LP booklet with extensive liner notes by Clay Marshall. Exclus ive to the Limited LP Collector’s Edition is a deluxe LP slipmat with the album cover art.
